Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan agree to develop trade ties
Sri Lankan and Kazakhstan President’s have discussed further expanding trade ties between the two countries.
President Rajapaksa and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev held bilateral discussions at the Special Official residence for State Leaders in Saint Petersburg in Russia. Agreement was reached to develop trade ties in many fields. Kazakhstan already purchases a large amount of Sri Lanka tea. Appraising the Kazakhstan leader about the investment opportunities available in Sri Lanka, President Rajapaksa invited investors from that country to undertake investments in the island. Both leaders drew attention to launching direct air flights between Kazakhstan and Sri Lanka.
Appreciating the economic progress achieved by Sri Lanka since routing terrorism, the Kazakhstan President announced his readiness to extend support to the island on any occasion. President Rajapaksa extended an official invitation to his Kazakhstan counterpart to visit Sri Lanka.
