PBOA Rejects Bus Fare Hike
Private bus operators have rejected the bus fare hike announced by the government yesterday.
The government announced the increase of bus fares by 7.6 percent with the minimum bus fare increased to Rs. 7 with effect from July 1.
Head of the Private Bus Operators Association (PBOA) Gemunu Wijeratne says that the private bus operators were not satisfied with the bus fare hike.
The private bus operators have demanded a 10 percent increase in bus fares.
The PBOA said that it would go ahead with its planned strike on Monday (27) demanding a higher bus fare hike.
