Alms-giving to bestow merits on past presenters

Merits were bestowed on Male and female presenters who had passed away. A Pinkama to offer alms in their memory was held today.

The Almsgiving Pinkama was held to commemorate all presenters who had dedicated their services on behalf of the media in its history. Alms were offered to the inmates of the Wickremasinghepura Municipal Elders and Children’s Home. The Pinkama was organized by Amara Gunasekara, a former Radio presenter, who is now domiciled in France. Lakhanda Radio was the media sponsor of the event.

All presenters who had passed away including D.M. Colombage, the first Radio presenter, H.M. Gunasekara, Amarabandu Rupasinghe, Premakeerthi de Alwis, Lalith S. Maithripala, K.D.K. Dharmawardena, Karunatilake Handuwala, Chithra Ranjani, Chithra Kumari Yapa Bandara, Punya Kumari Lokuliyana, Premalal Jayatilake, Malith Madhuranga and Suresh Wickremasinghe were remembered on the occasion. Lakhanda General Manager Ashoka Karunanayake, Ashoka Tilakaratne, Daya de Alwis, Kusum Peiris, Chithra Kumari Kalubowila, Mayuri Abeysinghe, Niranjala Sarojini and Thilaka Ranasinghe as well as many senior presenters and artistes were present.
