Sri Lanka Cricket President Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala spent some quality time with the Sri Lanka Minor Districts Combined Youth Team to wish them luck as they will depart today for a cricket tour of Malaysia. The Team will play 3 One Day (50 Overs) matches and 2 T20 matches on this tour. The team comprises some bright and upcoming talent selected by the Junior National Selectors. During the 9-day tour, which commences on the 10th March 2016, the Sri Lanka Minor Districts Combined Youth Team will play its Malaysian counterpart in what is widely expected to be an exciting clash and one that will provide ample opportunity for spectators to witness some quality cricket.

Sri Lanka Cricket is proud to offer such opportunities at all levels of the game so that budding players and administrators of the sport receive adequate international exposure which is expected to enhance the game and inject further professionalism, while boosting the overall team morale. Besides the players, the game of cricket constantly requires competent support staff and team management, who will also benefit from this international exposure. On return to Sri Lanka, they are then able to transfer their learning into the local context.

The Team Manager of the Sri Lanka Minor Districts Combined Youth Team is the President of Jaffna cricket, Dharmakulasingham, who will accompany the team along with Asst. Manager Nawaz, Coach Nishantha Hennanayake and Asst. Coach Sidath Liyanarachchi.
