TRADE UNION LEADERS SUBMIT PROPOSALS FOR BUDGET

Trade Union Leaders also make proposals for a new budget which will strengthen the Development war. A meeting between the President and the Trade Unions was held at Temple Trees yesterday.

President Rajapaksa joined in the discussion, based on the programme of conversing with Trade Unions before presenting the new Budget. Views and proposals of the Trade Unions are being considered for the Budget on behalf of the progress of the motherland. Trade Union Leaders presented views in relation to progress of the development process meeting the aspirations of the working class.
The Government’s target is to bring forward a developmental budget soliciting views of all communities. 164 Trade Union representatives joined in yesterday’s discussion. Ministers Basil Rajapaksa, Gamini Lokuge and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Deputy Minister Geethanjana Gunawardena and Western Province Governor Alavi Moulana were among those who participating in this discussion. President’s Secretary Lalith Weeratunge, Finance Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera, Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabral and Labour Commissioner General Pearl Weerasinghe were present.
