MOU Signed To Empower Tourism Industry

The MOU was signed between the Hotels Association of  Sri Lanka (THASL) and Vocational Training Authority (VTA) on August 12 in the presence of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Skills Development Dalas Alahapperuma and Senior Minister of Human Resource Development  D.E.W. Gunasekera and Secretary Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development S.S. Hewapathirana to train more people for the hospitality industry using the Vocational Training Authorities network.
THASL will help VTA to finalise the curriculum in keeping with the industry’s requirement and giving the necessary assistance by providing the industry; professionals to do visiting lectures and practical training sessions in member hotels in Sri Lanka.
VTA will also help to create sufficient awareness amongst the school leaver and school children and general public regarding the benefit of tourism for the economic growth of Sri Lanka and to ensure that a  sufficient work force of 500,000 trained employees will be met by 2016.
