Autogrill Lanka Limited, the leading duty free retailer at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), gave its patrons the chance to feel the loud, powerful and exhilarating experience of the Formula 1 (F1) Singtel Singapore Grand Prix, which will be held from 23 to 25 September in Singapore, through a unique promotion.

Customers who purchased selected products from the Autogrill Lanka Duty Free Arrivals Outlet at BIA from 3 April to 30 June 2011 qualified for daily and monthly prizes, in addition to a grand prize.
Approximately six daily prizes were awarded via scratch cards and the lucky winners walked away with F1 Car shaped USB Drives (4GB) and F1 T-shirts, whilst monthly winners and the grand winner were selected through a lucky draw.
The grand prize winner, Asanga Weerasinghe, the Managing Director of a reputed private sector business entity, will enjoy celebrity treatment as he experiences the F1 Singapore Grand Prix in true style with a Silver Pass. This special pass includes return air ticket, hotel stay and a once-in-a-lifetime experience in an enclosed area in the grand stand on all three racing days.
The three monthly winners, namely, Mahinda Jayawardana, Amila Amarakoon and Malith Fonseka, who were also chosen through lucky draws, will enjoy the F1 Grand Prix race experience, including a Grand Stand F1 pass, return air tickets and hotel stay for three nights.
“Many people see F1 racing as the best competition in motor sport. Attracting over a billion fans around the world, with exciting night racing in Singapore and with India hosting the F1 in October, there is huge interest amongst Sri Lankans on F1. As a result, Autogrill Lanka successfully managed to bring in the F1 experience for traveling passengers at the BIA with the ‘Step inside the Circuit’ mega promotion,” Autogrill Lanka Limited CEO Dimantha Kinigama said, at the prize presentation ceremony.  This promotion will be a precursor to the ‘Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 Car’ which Autogrill Lanka Duty Free intends to bring and exhibit in Sri Lanka from mid November 2011 to end of January 2012. This will be the very first time a Formula 1 dream machine is going to be showcased in Sri Lanka.
Autogrill Lanka Limited (formerly Alpha Orient Lanka Limited) is a member of the Autogrill Group of Companies, the world’s largest duty free retail group offering a range of categories including perfume and confectionery.
