Veteran film director D.B. Nihalsinghe passes away
Veteran film director, cinematographer and producer Dr. D. B. Nihalsinghe passed away today, Thursday April 21, while receiving treatment at a private hospital.
Dr. D. B. Nihalsinghe was 77 years old at the time of his passing.
He was a pioneer who introduced professional television production to Sri Lanka, and was behind the first colour teledrama Dimuthu Muthu .
A past pupil of Ananda College, Colombo he was the founding General Manager of the Sri Lanka’s National Film Corporation and was a distinguished alumni of the then University of Ceylon, Peradeniya
D.B. Nihalsingha is the son of the late Journalist D.B. Dhanapala.
