Stones hurled at Polonnaruwa train carrying May Day party supporters
Stones were hurled at a train carrying Sri Lanka Freedom Party supporters at the Polonnaruwa train station. The stationmaster said that the engine of the train was struck by rocks by an unidentified individual on Sunday morning.
The stationmaster added that the train, which was transporting a large number of passengers, had left the Batticaloa station and was heading to Galle at 11.30 on Saturday night.
The train, however, was not damaged. The Railway Control Room said that the train resumed its usual journey to Galle.
