JVP leader Anura Kumara speaks of the ‘pressures on the working community’
The JVP May Day Rally commenced at the S. De S. Jayasinghe Grounds on Sunday, May 1. Political representatives of the party took part in the rally which was held under the auspices of the Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
The rally featured artistic recreations of notable points in the history of the struggle for workers’ rights.
The JVP May Day procession which commenced from the S. De S. Jayasinghe grounds in Dehiwala, reached the B.R.C. grounds via High Level Road and the Kirulapone bridge.
Leader of the JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake, expressing his views at the rally, noted that the former government and the existing government, dragged the country’s economy to complete bankruptcy, and as a result the people are facing immense hardship.
He added that this is the platform that brings together the North and the South, irrespective of cast or creed, to struggle against this pressure, that the working community goes through.
