Former president Rajapaksa attends Kirulapone May Day rally
Representatives of several constituent parties of the United People’s Freedom Alliance, organised a May Day procession which commenced at Shalika Grounds in Narahenpita.
Trade unions and organisations affiliated to the UPFA and several SLFP public representatives, participated in the procession.
While the procession travelled along Baseline Road to Kirulapone, former minister Basil Rajapaksa also arrived at Baseline Road to witness the procession. The procession arrived at the Lalith Athulathmudali grounds in Kirulapone at about 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, following which the May Day rally commenced.
Speaking at the rally former President, Mahinda Rajapaksa charged that they have gone on and brought about an NBT tax, the Nation Building Tax and now when you buy a 100 rupee reload, you only get to talk for 53 rupees.
