Certain clauses in right to information draft bill are in violation of Constitution: SC
The Supreme Court has informed Parliament today, May 3, that certain clauses in the Draft Bill of the Right to Information is in violation of the Constitution.
Commencing parliamentary proceedings today, the Speaker informed the house that if the clauses which are in violation of the constitution as mentioned by the Supreme Court are not amended accordingly, the Bill on the Right to Information will have to be passed in Parliament with a special majority.
Speaker Karu Jayasuriya informed Parliament, a short while ago, that if the relevant amendments are to be made, the Right to Information Bill can be passed in Parliament with a simple majority.
