Wins awards consecutively for export excellence and industry leadership

Munchee, the flagship brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited, recently announced that it had bagged 12 awards during the past three months for export excellence and industry leadership, at prestigious national and international awards ceremonies.
The most recent achievement of Munchee was at the recently-concluded National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) awards ceremony, conducted for the 19th consecutive year.

At the NCE Awards 2011 Munchee secured two gold awards for ‘Best Export Industry’ and ‘Best Exporter in Confectionery and Bakery Category’. It emerged runners up and was bestowed a silver for the premium award of the evening, the ‘Best Exporter Award’ across all categories.
NCE Awards have been presented since 1993 to acknowledge and felicitate outstanding exporters who have done an immense service to promote and foster the export sector in Sri Lanka.
CBL-Munchee also received the gold award for the best exporter at the 2011 Presidential awards ceremony along with nine other awards.
Speaking about the brand’s success at the NCE Awards ceremony, CBL-Munchee Managing Director Shea Wickramasingha said: “Munchee winning the NCE Gold award is a great endorsement of our customer focus and brand innovation that has been the hallmark of Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. (CBL). I’m extremely delighted and would like to thank NCE for providing an unparalleled platform which enabled this recognition.”
Wickramasinghe further stated that CBL-Munchee had managed to retain its leadership in the category as a result of the collective enthusiasm displayed by the entire workforce towards achieving corporate objectives.
CBL-Munchee Group Director and Head of Sales & Marketing Nandana Wickramage said: “Excellence is enhancing the capacity of your competencies and delivery year-on-year.
Awards such as these epitomise the core values of a successful leader which are innovation, ingenuity, knowledge and foresight and we are delighted to be acknowledged so.”
Wickramage also stated that all products under CBL-Munchee brand name enter the market after a series of R&D initiatives and under stringent quality control practices.
Prior to the NCE recognition, CBL-Munchee received the Gold award for the Extra Large category for the second consecutive year during the recently concluded Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) awards ceremony.
CBL-Munchee, the undisputed leader in the biscuits category in Sri Lanka which is reputed for its enormous contribution towards expanding industry borders, secured the CNCI gold award after beating many large multi-national companies and local conglomerates. CNCI awards are presented to recognise and reward business organisations that have contributed towards industrial upliftment and economic development of the country.
Apart from the numerous local awards it has received, CBL-Munchee also secured the award for ‘Asia’s Best Employer’ at the recently-concluded Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Awards ceremony in Singapore.
