MCA 2012 season kicks off this weekend

The MCA 2012 season will get off to a start with their “D” division 50-overs League Tournament, this week-end (29/30 October).
The tournament is sponsored by Ceylon Cold stores for the ninth successive  year,   once again will be contested  for  the  “Elephant House – Lemonade” trophy (inaugurated in 2004)
Out of the 09 participating teams  (05) teams, namely, John Keells “B”, Pan Asia Bank,  Softlogic,  David Pieris Motor Co. “A” and Textured Jersey will be making their  debut in this division.

The four teams retained are Hayleys Group RC, Mobitel “A”, Airport and Aviation and Sri Lanka Telecom “A”.
The tournament will be conducted in two stages, with the 09 teams pooled into 02 groups.
The league stage consisting 16 matches will be played at MCA and Thurstan College grounds from 29 October to 27 November.
At the completion  of the  league stage matches,  the  first four teams of  each group will advance to   the Knock-out stage to be played  on 3 and 4 December  (Quarter  Finals) 10 and 11 December  (Semi-finals)  and 18 December  (Final at MCA).
The four special awards on offer are for the best batsman, best bowler, based on performances in the league stage matches, Man-of-the-Series and Man-of-the-Final.
The official sponsorship  presentation  took place yesterday at the  MCA A/C restaurant,  where Chandima Perera, Vice President/ Head of  Beverage, John Keells Holdings handed over  the  cheque to Ashley Ratnayake, Senior Vice President /MCA.
Others associated with  the presentation were Nadina Fernando, Brand Manager/ CCS Elephant House,  Roshan  Iddamalgoda , General Secretary  &  Rohana Dissanayake, Chairman,  Tournament Committee  ( Both from MCA)
Two matches are billed as the tournament openers, Textured Jersey Vs.  Mobitel on Saturday, 29 and Sri Lanka Telecom “A” Vs.  John Keells “B” on Sunday, 30, both matches played at the MCA Grounds.
