Gold Biscuits emerge from Rajapaksa associates residence
Ten gold biscuits weighing a kilo and 106 grams have been found at Boralesgamuwa residence of Champika Karunaratna, an organizer of Carlton Sports Rugby tournament say reports.
The raid on his house at Wewa Road, Boralesgamuwa was carried out on a tip off received by the FCID.
Mr. Champika Karunaratna was the coordinating secretary to the Ministry of Highways when it was under former President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He also served as the Chairman State Timber Corporation, a Chief Organizer of Tharunyata Hetak and Nil Balakaya.
He has been accused of receiving two salaries from National Lotteries Board and the Ministry of Highways. Also, he was accused of a fraud at State Timber Corporation was arrested for misappropriation of state funds, arrested and later released by Colombo Fort Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage on Rs.25,000 cash bail and a personal bail of Rs. 2 million.
Champika Karunaratna is a very close associate of Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa.
