Harsha of Cinnamon Lodge Habarana Shines at Signature Cocktail
Assistant Barman at the Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana Harsha Dilhan Fernando has won second place in the all-island Signature cocktail for Sri Lanka Tourism competition, conducted under the auspices of the Sri Lanka Tourist Board.
The event was held at the Galle Face Hotel. He had already been placed first place in the Cultural Triangle regional competition, which was the precursor to the Signature Cocktail competition.
Harsha’s first triumph was his selection as the first runner-up in the May 2011 Marie Brizard Cultural Triangle Classical Cocktail competition. He went on to win the silver medal, for the creation of a Mocktail at the Chef’s Guild in July 2011.
Not losing his stride, the irrepressible Harsha thundered on to eventually win second place in the prestigious all-island Signature cocktail for Sri Lanka Tourism competition.
It is a common but flawed opinion that success stories of individuals stem from education received from famed schools.
Harsha Dilhan Fernando from the Cinnamon Lodge, Habarana has, along with his peers, debunked this belief.
Hailing from the rural but picturesque, cross-road town of Habarana, Harsha is a beneficiary of employment at the Cinnamon Lodge’s and its continuous training opportunities.
Having joined in 2009 as an Assistant barman, his skills were soon spotted by his superiors.
His personality and good looks added to his obvious talent and he quickly imbibed all the intricacies that the hotel’s training programs afforded him.
The 26 year-old Harsha was educated at the Habarana Isuru School and studied up to the GCE Advanced Level in Commerce.
With his father having passed away some time ago, his achievements are shared by his mother and 3 brothers.
