The South Asian Apparel Leadership Forum, conceptualised by SLDF as one of its main highlights of 2011, is to be held on 18 November and will see many key apparel experts and high profile international press gather to provide their insights on topics that are crucial for Sri Lanka’s campaign to lead South Asian apparel and become the global apparel visionary.

The forum, in which apparel manufacturing leaders and their key partners have already participated, is also a great platform and networking opportunity for apparel industry’s backward integration sector and supply chain.
SLDF’s key backward integration and supply chain partners Coats Thread PLC, Textured Jersey and TradeCard Inc. along with logistics leaders Hellmann Worldwide Logistics are already a key part of the forums. The forum organisers are keen to have more members of the apparel industry supply chain and backward integration participating in the event.
Sri Lanka’s fashion manufacturing industry has progressed towards becoming one of the pioneers in the global supply chain which caters to leading international brands and retains its position at the forefront of ethical manufacturing, a significant key to the growth of the fashion industry in Sri Lanka.
This forum will discuss the further progression of the industry and will have a huge impact on the apparel supply chain and backward integration industry. Amongst many topics, the forum will also discuss topics directly related to the apparel supply chain on Network Partnerships, movement from “transactional” to “involvement” networks, supply chain costs, etc.
The event has already involved global apparel leaders including leading retail brands, and looks on is keen to involve all organisations across the supply chain from the yarn to the retailer.
SLDF is also encouraging logistics and finance parties to participate in the forum and share their valued opinions to form strategy on how Sri Lanka apparel and associated industries can move forward together from a South Asian and a global point of view.
Registration for the forum is available online at  www.srilankadesignfestival.com or from the festival secretariat at at Academy of Design (AOD), 29, Lauries Road, Colombo 4. For more information call on +94 11 5737303 or visit between 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Saturday.
