SriLankan Airlines, Sri Lanka’s national airline, in a bold attempt to enhance its products and services to drive the country’s ongoing boom in tourism and economic development will launch its latest addition: The luxury flatbed on Business Class. Partnering with Sri Lanka Design Festival (SLDF) 2011, the airline will also support the many industries involved in the Festival such as apparel, hospitality, advertising, interior and architecture through this partnership.

Sri Lanka’s apparel industry welcomes SriLankan Airlines’ partnership with SL Design Festival; “We’re glad to have SriLankan’s support for the apparel industry through SLDF and we look forward to working with them,’’ said Hirdaramani Director and SLDF Board member Nikhil Hirdaramani.
SriLankan Airlines will soon equip its long-haul fleet with luxury flatbed seating providing its Business Class passengers with the ultimate comfort in air travel. The airline is to formally launch this new designer addition to its flights on the first day of the prestigious SLDF 2011.
Joint Apparel Association Forum Executive Committee member and SLDF Board member Kumar Mirchandani thanked SriLankan for supporting the festival stating: “As members of an industry that constantly engages with the national airline, we look forward to SriLankan’s new additions and upgrades and their unveiling at an event frequented by apparel leaders.”
“Sri Lanka Design Festival is a unique event that bridges many industries that contribute to our national growth. As the national airline, we not only feel that it’s our duty to support the festival, but we’re also glad for the opportunity to share our own growth as a brand, through the festival,” said SriLankan CEO Kapila Chandrasena.
Founder of SLDF Linda Speldewinde added, “Sri Lankan Airlines is part of Sri Lanka’s identity and is our national carrier - we look forward to the opportunity to help position Sri Lankan Airlines in this new design era amongst the apparel, advertising and hotel industry delegates, both local and international, visiting Sri Lanka for the festival.”
