ITN receives the highest number of awards at star studded night
ITN, the most popular TV channel in the country has received a number of popularity awards for its programmes including tele-dramas at the Sumathi Tele Awards Ceremony.
Saranga Disasekara who acted in ‘Bonda Meedum’ won the award for most popular actor at the 16th Sumathi Tele Awads Ceremony. Udari Warnakulasuriya received the award for the most popular actress for her performance in ‘Bonda Meedum’. ‘Bonda Meedum’ was also adjudged the most popular tele-drama of the year. A special award was presented to ITN for introducing the most popular actor and actress and telecasting the most popular tele-drama. Dulani Anuradha who performed in ‘Pinibara Yamaya’ tele drama was selected the best upcoming tele-drama actress. A special award was presented to Ravindra Randeya for his skilled presentation of the ‘Mind Star’ programme of the ITN. A merit award was presented to Pradeep Dharmadasa for his characterization of Ayal in the tele-drama Ayal. Chamara Peiris received an award for the direction of the tele drama. Lakruwan de Saram received the award for the best editor for his work in Ayal. The once in a life time U.W. Sumathipala memorial awards were presented to veteran artistes Anula Karunatillake and Angeline Gunatillake. Roshan Ravindra was the best actor while Himali Sayurangi was the best actress. All main awards for popularity have been won by the ITN. Strengthened by these achievements ITN is prepared to continue its leading role in the media sector.
