Unemployed graduates to protest
Unemployed graduates are to protest against the government’s failure to allocate funds in the 2012 budget to grant employment that was promised.
The Combined Association of Unemployed Graduates (CAUG) notes that the government had promised to employ 14,500 and 30,000 unemployed graduates as Jana Sabha Secretaries to the grama seva divisions and as development officers respectively.
Media Coordinator of CAUG, Dhammika Munasinghe said that the number of unemployed graduates has increased under the Mahinda Rajapaksa administration.
The current number of unemployed graduates according the CAUG stands at around 42,000.
“It is time for the unemployed graduates to fight for what has been promised to them,” Munasinghe said.
