The30 minutes-long episodes will air every weekday at 7pm.
The captivating production tells the story of two very different cousins (Sathya and Rashi) who are preparing to get married at the same time. Both cousins have a conflicting relationship with each other and have to navigate their way through their stressful match making journeys and wedding preparations. Meanwhile, their interactions with their family members constantly develop, ensuring a memorable and emotionally heightened plot.
Commenting on the latest teledrama series to be on Swarnavahini, Dylan Samuels, Director of Operations, EBC stated: “We are extremely proud to introduce an international teledrama series to our diverse portfolio of television programmes. ‘Mage Sanda Obai’ is a big budget Indian production that has been carefully altered for Sri Lankan audiences. In the ‘Mage Sanda Obai’ teledrama series, both Sathya and Rashi are preparing to marry into the wealthy and well-respected Modi family that hails from Gujarat. Sathya is a traditional girl who was raised by her maternal uncle and scheming aunty Urmila, but her cousin Rashi is more modern and harbours a deep dislike for Sathya. Due to various circumstances, Sathya is elected as a bride for Ahem, an eligible bachelor in the Modi family and Rashi is chosen for Ahem’s younger cousin Jigar. Whilst Rashi plots against her unassuming and naive cousin, she starts to get well with her intended spouse, whilst Ahem is rude and appears uninterested in Sathya. Sathya feels defeated and unhappy with her marriage, but as time passes, she is able to impress her in-laws and her formidably strict mother-in-law. In spite of all the hurtful plans made by Urmila and Rashi against her, Sathya maintains her kind and good-natured ways, ultimately earning the respect of Ahem and her new family. All of the characters continue to clash and intertwine throughout the story, creating many dramatic, tense and heartfelt cinematic moments.
Since its launch in 1997, Swarnavahini has remained dedicated to deliver high quality programms and reached out to an extensive audience in Sri Lanka. The channel has been identified as one of the top-rated in the country and is part of the EAP Broadcasting Company, which also comprises ETV, Shree FM, E FM and Ran one FM.
