No soldier will be left behind: President Sirisena at Viru Sara programme
Making a statement at the second phase of the “Viru Sara” programme, President Maithripala Sirisena reiterated that no soldier will be left behind.
Viru Sara cards were presented to military personnel, policemen, civil defence force personnel and families of fallen war heroes who served between 1983 and 1999. Three hundred thousand (300,000) personnel were presented with the cards. The recipients of the Viru Sara cards are granted access to 55 services provided by the public and private sectors.
President Sirisena noted that a two day mobile service programme will be launched in the next month in Polonnaruwa to find solutions for all soldiers enduring issues in their private and public lives and allow military families to present their grievances.
