Breaking : Rugby suspensions issued to three leading schools
The Ministry of Education has decided to impose suspensions on three schools that were involved in brawls that took place during the Inter-Schools Under 20 Rugby Tournament.
The Under 20 Rugby Team of Dharmaraja College, Kandy has been given nine month suspension while the team’s coach has been barred from engaging in any coaching activities for schools.
In addition, seven Rugby Players from Dharmaraja College, Kandy have each been given a one year suspension.
The Ministry of Education has also laid down a six-month suspension for the Under 20 Rugby Teams of Carey College, Colombo and Trinity College , Kandy.
The Ministry notes that these measures were taken following the investigations carried out on the unruly behaviour that took place during matches of the Inter-Schools Under 20 Rugby Tournament.
