Protests Against VAT To Continue
Protests staged in various parts of the country against the VAT increase to 15 per cent will continue this week, the National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection said.
Chairman of the National Movement for Consumer Rights Protection, Ranjith Vithanage said that the protest is not against the government.
He said that the protests will be staged around the country to push the government to reconsider the VAT increase.
Vithanage also said that some groups are attempting to politicize the protest.
He said the VAT increase is a burden on the traders and so they will continue to push for the decision to be reversed. (AW)
