Unions ask for discussion on EPF Act amendments
Srilankamirror - The Inter Company Employees' Union (ICEU) has called on the government to present the proposed amendments to the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) Act to the National Labor Advisory Council (NLAC) for discussion and approval by all stakeholders.
The ICEU has pointed out that the government had promised to present the draft amendments to the NLAC for discussion before presenting it to the parliament.
Head of the ICEU, Wasantha Samarasinghe said the government couldn’t present the legislation in parliament in an arbitrary manner without discussing with the NLAC.
He notes that the private sector workers and the trade unions needed to be made aware of the amendments.
