PM says investors in casino industry will have no place in the country
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has ruled out the Casino industry in Sri Lanka citing that such investors will have no place in the country.
He made this statement in response to a question raised by a businessman at the Singapore Entrepreneurs Organisation meeting.
The meeting where discussions on investment opportunities in Sri Lanka took place, was attended by leading entrepreneurs in Singapore hailing from various sectors.
Investment opportunities in the fields of industry, tourism, energy, housing , construction, environment and city planning were discussed at the meeting.
Thereafter, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Surbana Jurong Private Limited of Singapore and Sri Lanka, on drafting plans for megapolis development.
During a visit to the Singapore River on Tuesday evening, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe had noted that the process followed on cleaning the Singapore river will be used as an example to develop Beira Lake and surrounding areas while the experiences of those involved in that task will also be used.
