What has happened to the racing car seized at Piliyandala?

- lankatruth.com

It had been revealed that the Nissan GTR 3800 super luxury car the police discovered from a house on Rathna Mawatha at Piliyandala last year had been brought to the country by a person who had supplied vehicles to SL Army during Mahinda Rajapaksa regime, it had not been registered at RMV, had used in motor races with a forged number plate and paint of the car had been changed several times.

Then police spokesman Ajith Rohana had said the tip off regarding the car was given by the owner of the house where it was hidden.

However, there hasn’t been any report regarding any legal action taken against the importers or owners of the car recently.

The matter came on stage again with a statement made by Mr. Namal Rajapaksa before he was arrested recently. He had said various individuals had charged them of various offences. He said those people spoke about their racing cars, horses and hotels belonging to them. He said those who accused them charged that they possessed hotels in foreign countries. “However, those who accused me have not been able to prove any of their charges against me but had entangled me in a false case and are trying to send me to prison,” said Mr. Rajapaksa.

At the time the car was seized by the police, a series of photographs showing Yoshitha Rajapaksa using the car to participate in races went viral.
