Archbishop of Colombo voices protest against “drug ring”
The Archbishop of Colombo voiced his protest against the drug ring and participated in a protest march on Saturday.
Religious Leaders from Ragama, Kandana and Ja-Ela were joined by the Archbishop of Colombo in this anti-drugs march. The march which commenced from St. Peter’s Chruch in Ragama concluded at the Bascillica Grounds in Ragama.
“We often hear about narcotics being brought in containers from here and there and that they were seized”, said His Eminence Albert Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, Archbishop of Colombo.
He charged that the perpetrators should not be allowed to evade the law, and they must be punished and if there are those in politics who assist them, they too need to be punished.
His Eminence called on the ministers and MPs from the Catholic faith to not commit such acts and added that persons who commit these acts must be punished, no matter what their religion is, and what language they speak.
