Rising concern over Dengue prone areas in WP schools

It has been revealed that 25 percent of schools in the Western Province contain environments where mosquito larvae were present.

This revelation was made during the Dengue Mosquito Eradication Campaign that is being conducted at present, covering the entire Western Province.

Community Specialist at the National Dengue Eradication Unit, Dr. Prescilla Samaraweera said that 75 percent of schools in the Western Province contain environments that are coducive for the breeding of mosquitoes.

She said that steps will be taken to fumigate all centres where the Advanced Level Examination will take place on Monday. Health Officials say that nearly 30 000 dengue patients have been reported so far this year.
