Krrish money given for rugby used to buy lands with false deeds
FCID informed Court yesterday (8th) that former Sri Lanka Tourism Board Chairman Nalaka Godahewa and three others have been identified as person who had prepared false deeds to buy a land from Puttalam for Rs.40 million, money obtained from Indian real estate company 'Krrish Group'.
FCID stated this when the case against MP Namal Rajapaksa, concerning a misappropriation of Rs. 70 million belonging to Krrish Company obtained stating it was for the development of Rugby in Sri Lanka was taken up for inquiry before Colombo Fort Magistrates Court.
The Court was also told that statements are to be taken from Ronnie Ibrahim and Rukshan Fernando who, according to a statement from Sujani Bogollagama, who was in charge of accounts of ‘Carlton Super Network’, are aware of the spending of these funds.
A report on expenses of the Rugby Union for 2012 and 2013 was produced by the FCID.
Meanwhile, Police told Court that they have concluded investigations against MP Namal Rajapaksa and sought the Attorney General’s advice in this regard. He was arrested for allegedly misappropriating Rs.70 million granted by Indian Real Estate Company Krish Lanka Pvt. Ltd, for the development of rugby in Sri Lanka. He is currently out on bail.
