SC decision is a blow to Divi Neguma EPF plunderers & victory for employees
The Supreme Court on Thursday (10th) gave a decision against the move of Mahinda Rajapaksa regime to plunder EPF money of 7367 employees earned during their service at Samurdhi Authority. Former Mahinda Rajapaksa had planned to plunder the money when Divi Neguma Authority was formed through Divi Neguma Act.
The case was filed in Supreme Court by the United Professionals’ Association against the failure to release the money to employees.
A press conference was held in Colombo by the United Professionals’ Association in which the Co-Secretary of the United Professionals’ Association A.C.S. Priyadharshani. Chamila Alawattegama, its President Chamath Udarahewa, the President of All Ceylon Samurdhi Manager’ Union K. Ranugge, The General Secretary of Samurdhi Development Officers Union Chamara Maddumakaluge participated.
Speaking about the victory achieved by the employees Mr. Maddumakaluge said the decision was a hard blow on those who attempt to plunder hard earned money of the employees and the victory is one achieved by all the working masses in the country.
