News1st presents special booklet to Malwathu, Asgiri Chief Prelates in line with Esala
A special booklet prepared by News 1st in line with the Esala Festival of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic in Kandy was presented to the Chief Prelates of the Malwathu and Asgiri chapters.
The Sirasa Namami booklet was edited by K. Meegahakumbura of the Department of Buddhist Affairs at the Temple of The Tooth Relic. The booklet carries a great deal of information about the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Esala Perahera.
Preparations have been made to distribute the booklets free of charge on Wednesday, in line with the Esala Perahera. The main sponsor of this initiative is Kevilton Electrical Products (Pvt) Ltd.
The News 1st team presented the booklet to the Chief Prelate of the Asgiri Chapter of the Siam Sect Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathana thero.
The booklet was also presented the chief prelate of the Malwathu Chapter of the Siam Sect Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero.
Director / General Manager of News 1st, Yasarath Kamalsiri stated that, with the help of the public, they were able to begin work even though support was not given by relevant authorities.
He added that the Damanayaya Road in Dambulla was renovated at a cost lower than the Government. Six million rupees had been approved for the renovation of this road, but no one had used it.
Explaining further, he noted that with the help of the locals in the village the road was reconstructed with just Rs. 520,000
