SLFPers In JO To Boycott Party Anniversary
Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) members in the Joint Opposition are to boycott the SLFP anniversary event in Kurunegala next month.
Joint Opposition members told The Sunday Leader that the decision to boycott the event was taken after several SLFP member in the Joint Opposition were removed as party organizers.
SLFP Parliamentarian Prasanna Ranatunga, who is among those who will boycott the event, said that he is not in a position to attend the anniversary at a time when the SLFP members in the government are taking revenge on the opposition.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is also expected to skip the event as he will be in Italy during that period.
SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake had said last week that all SLFP members will be invited for the SLFP anniversary event in Kurunegala next month.
He said that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is among those invited to attend the event.
He also insisted that there was no attempt being made to take revenge on SLFP members of the Joint Opposition.
