ITN BAGS MANY AWARDS AGAIN AT PEOPLES AWARDS NITE
Independent Television Network which has been feted with many Awards is again crowned as the Peoples channel. It has again won the highest number of Awards at the People’s Awards Festival.
The Peoples Awards Night was held at Water’s Edge in Battaramulla last night under the patronage of Minister Patalie Champika Ranawaka. This unique event is organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing in association with The Nielsen Company, the largest Marketing Research Company in the world. These accolades are distinguished by the fact that they can only be conferred on the lucky recipients who are nominated by the people themselves.
Nanda Malini was honoured as the female Vocalist of the Year, while the Male Vocalist of the Year was Surendra Perera. Ranjan Ramanayake was the Actor of the Year and Nehara Peiris the Actress of the Year. It was also Nehara Peiris who bagged the Award for the Young Actress of the Year. Menaka Rajapaksa was the Young Actor of the Year. Singer was acclaimed as the Brand of the Year while Dialog and Mobitel were feted as the Youth Brand of the Year. Lifebuoy became the Peoples Consumer Brand as well as the Youth Brand of the Year. Cream Soda of Elephant House won the People’s drink of the Year while Coco Cola was feted as the Youth Drink. People’s Bank was honoured as the Peoples Banking Service Supplier and the Peoples Service Supplier. “Mahindagama” was the Peoples Film.
Independent Television Network was honoured for the third consecutive year as the Peoples Television Channel of the Year. ITN also succeeded in bagging more significant awards at this Festival. Four of the five peoples teledramas were those telecast by ITN. Among these “Ama” was the Peoples Teledrama of the Year. “Atapattama” won the Award for the Peoples TV Programme of the Year.
ITN secured the highest number of Awards at the Peoples Awards Nite this year, mainly due to the high response from the viewers. Accordingly ITN wishes to expresses its gratitude to the viewers who contributed to this task.
