Arrest Gemunu Wijeratna & gang that attacked students

The attack by a gang lead by the Chairman of Private Bus Owners’ Association Gemunu Wijertna on students of Sabaragamuwa University and a student from an International School who questioned speakers who had made false statements at a seminar organized by parents of SAITM private medical school at Malabe is condemned with disgust states   ‘Center Against Private Medical Colleges (CAPMC)’ in a press release and adds that they call upon the government to arrest all those who were involved in the attack and legal action taken against them.

Arrest Gemunu Wijeratna and gang that attacked the students!

It is reported that the President of SAITM Parents Union Gemunu Wijeratna and a gang assaulted university students who questioned false statements made by speaker s who participated at the meeting held at Samudhi Reception Hall at Ratnapura and organized by parents of SAITM which sells medical degrees. Presently, the students who were attacked have been admitted to Rathnapura Hospital for treatment. A complaint has been lodged at Rathnapura Police. The students attacked were two students from Sabaragamuwa University and a student from an International School.

The meeting held with the support of the UNP was participated by the Member s of the Provincial Council of that party Yehiya Iflar and Sashitha Atygala.

The meeting had been held to publicize falsehoods with the backing of Maithri – Ranil government despite Sri Lanka Medical Council, the regulatory body of medical education, had rejected registering the degree shop.

CAPMC condemns with contempt the attack by the Chairman of Private Bus Owner s Association Gemunu Wijeratna  and his gang and calls upon the government to arrest the attackers immediately.
