SAITM VC asks for anticipatory bail
The vice-chancellor of SAITM Dr. Ananda Samarasekera, in a petition to Colombo Magistrates Court, states there is a possibility that he would be arrested as he has been summoned by the CID to get a statement regarding the disappearance of Thajudeen’s skeletal parts and seeks anticipatory bail.
The petition would be heard on the 30th.
Dr. Ananda Samarasekera was the Chief Judicial Medical Officer in Colombo during the period and performed the first post-mortem examination on Thajudeen’s body and presented a report to confirm the death was due to an accident. However, later it was confirmed that Thajudeen had been murdered.
Meanwhile, Dr. Samarasekera has filed a fundamental rights petition in Supreme Court requesting to issue an order preventing him from being arrested.
Meanwhile, Prof. Ananda Samaraskera has suddenly got himself admitted to Colombo National Hospital as he is to be questioned by the CID.
