Fmr. president Chandrika Kumaratunga speaks on “giving Tamil language its rightful place”
The Office for National Unity and reconciliation and the Department of Official Languages launched the website of the language facilitators pool. The event was also graced by Minister of National Dialogue Mano Ganeshan Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs Chandrani Bandara and Minister of National Integration and Reconciliation A. H. M.Fowzie.
Chairperson of the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga stated that even though the reasonable use of the Tamil bill was brought in 1957; it hasn’t been implemented as every government sweeped it under the carpet without giving its rightful place. Therefore, in most government departments, in ministries, there’s not even a single person who can work in the Tamil Language.
