Killing of Bambalapitiya businessman: Over 50 statements obtained
The Colombo Crimes Division says that statements from over 50 individuals have been recorded with regard to the murder of a businessman in Bambalapitiya. Police say that various investigations are currently being conducted by a number of police teams.
Statements have also been recorded from employees who worked at the eatery the businessman was at, the night he was murdered. Post mortem examinations confirm that the businessman had died owing to a haemorrhage, which he is alleged to have suffered following a blow to his head.
The post mortem examination was conducted by Ramesh Alagiyawanne, the Judicial Medical Officer attached to the Kegalle Hospital, while the magisterial inquiry was conducted by the Mawanella Magistrate.
Police say that the body of the businessman was handed over to the relatives, subsequent to the examination. Police has obtained a court order suspending overseas travel of five suspects who are alleged to be involved in the murder.
The Colombo Crime Division says that statements have thus far been recorded from the suspects who were banned from travelling overseas.The Colombo Crimes Division conducted extensive investigations following the abduction of the businessman on August 21. Police say that the CCTV cameras installed in the city of Colombo will be checked in order to nab the perpetrators.
The murdered individuals was identified as a businessman who imported garments for a living . He was a 29-year-old father of two.
