Dengue kills over 50; Highest number of victims from Western Province
Fifty nine deaths have been reported so far as a result of the Dengue epidemic.
According to the Ministry of Health, nearly 38,000 individuals have contracted the epidemic this year. Community Medical Officer of the Dengue Epidemic Unit, specialist Doctor, Prashila Samaraweera said that the highest number of patients have been recorded from the Western Province.
She also added that Dengue eradication programmes have commenced at schools across the country with schools scheduled to commence for the new term.
