Army officer’s wife injured in Malabe shooting
The wife of an army colonel was severely injured in a shooting at a house in Isurupura, Malabe. The shooting occurred in a room of the house at around 10 p.m on Saturday, while the woman was sleeping. The youngest of her three children, a ten-year-old boy was also in the room sleeping.
One of the three shots fired struck the woman in her abdomen while the other two shots that were fired had hit the wall. The woman, who sustained severe injuries, was taken to the Thalangama Hospital after which she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
The 42-year-old woman had been away from home for awhile. Police sources said that the woman had come back to live in the house following a court order.
Meanwhile a birthday party which was held at a sports ground in the Neelammahara area in Bokundara ended with one youth being killed, due to a clash that erupted during the party. According to police an argument between two groups had led to a stabbing.
The deceased was a 26 year old resident of Bokundara. Two others have been admitted to the Colombo South Teaching Hospital due to injuries.
