Sri Lankan embassy in Berlin celebrates the independence day
Sri Lankan embassy in Berlin celebrated the 64th Independence Day of Sri Lanka with the participation of a large number of Sri Lankans living in that country.
The Deputy District Major of Zehlendorf, Michael Karnetzki participated as the Chief guest at this occasion, while the celebrations were chaired by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in Germany, Sarath Kongahage.
The embassy said, a move by the LTTE supporters to hold a anti Sri Lanka protest was thrawted with the help of the German Security establishment and the Sri Lankans living there.
“In spite of the extremely cold weather, more than hundreds of Sri Lankans came together creating a protecting human wall against the L.T.T.E. demonstration by singing patriotic hymns for more than five hours after Hoisting the Sri Lankan National Flag”, added a embassy statement released in this regard.
