Group of persons demonstrate over removal of a war heroes memorial near Maligapitiya grounds

A group of persons staged a demonstration on Wednesday August 31,  over the removal of a war heroes memorial which was erected in close proximity to the Maligapitiya grounds along the Kurunegala – Dambulla road.

The demonstrators charge that this war heroes memorial was removed during road renovation activities.

Later, MP Salinda Dissanayake arrived at the location. Following the protest the protesters proceeded towards the parliamentarian’s residence.

A few minutes after the arrival of the protesters at the MP’s residence,  former president Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the location.
