It has been sixty years since the people of Boralagama started their struggle in search of clean drinking water.
Thanks to the Gammadda 100-day initiative, what was once a dream became a reality.
Giving new hope to the people of Boralagama this water project commenced on July 20, as the inaugural project of the Gammadda 100 day initiative.
Providing a supply of drinking water to this village situated atop a hill, was not an easy task.
Finding a clean water source was our main challenge. However, as a result of all the hard work , a clean water source was discovered.
The project, which included storing water from the source and making it easily available for the people, was vested in the people on Saturday.
The event to vest the project in the public was held under the auspices of Nedra Weerasinghe, Group Director of Electronic Media Business of the Capital Maharaja Organisation Limited and officials of Brandix which provided financial assistance to this project.
Handing over the responsibility of maintaining the work of the project, to the public, Gammadda Savia Organisation was also set up, while a certificate guaranteeing that the water from the project is clean enough for consumption, was handed over to the District Secretary.
