_D3S8031x“It is no secret that sport is a universal language that transcends all boundaries, and unifies all, and Sri Lanka especially over the years has proven this adage consistently.

In a nation where cultural and religious diversity abounds, Cricket, is the one single unifier, and this has been proven time and time again as Sri Lanka has come together as 1Team for 1Nation in the face of numerous national disasters.

Sri Lanka’s love for cricket, is not limited to following a winning team only. Sri Lanka’s love for cricket is for its team, and for its brand of cricket.

This passion for Sri Lanka Cricket has seen SELL out crowds at all venues, including the 5th and final ODI, despite Sri Lanka being 3 down in the series, proving once again that Sri Lanka is 1Team and 1Nation.

This passion has been the driving force behind our youthful National Team on to achieve its full potential come the 2019 World Cup.

President SLC, Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala stated

“Historic victories, stellar performances, meteoric debuts and a super-star retirement, have made this Sri Lanka vs. Australia series 2016, one for the history books.

The support that Sri Lanka has shown the National team as it finds its form has been momentous. The SELL out crowds at the venues have motivated the young blood to go out there and play what is undoubtedly Sri Lanka’s inimitable brand of cricket.

When Sri Lanka plays cricket, the world watches. This tremendous passion and support of the fans is what makes Sri Lanka Cricket the world re-known brand it is, and on behalf of the Captain, the National Team and the administration of Sri Lanka Cricket, I personally extend my thanks to all our spectators, listeners, readers and viewers who follows our wonderful game of cricket.

Let’s continue this unstoppable force that comes together as 1Team, 1Nation”
