Gammadda 100 : Day 49 – To make a difference, to bring hope for our future generations….

- newsfirst.lk

Water is life. Water is a necessity and an essential in the everyday life of every living being….

Now, imagine living without being able to have the luxury of one of your most basic needs. Such is the life spent by the people of Thulana in Wam-iwura, Wilachchiya.

Us at News 1st came across these people during the Gammadda 100 day initiative, our own countrymen, our people, who shed tears for not being able to quench their thirst in Wilachchiya, Anuradhapura.

For years, decades, over 100 families living in the Thulana have been facing severe difficulties due to the lack of water to engage in their day-to-day activities.

“We have been living like this for almost 70 years. We are not in a position to say that we had no trouble obtaining water.” – Villager

“For about 1 and a half months we have been living without water. We do not have water to bathe our children or to perform any household activity.” – Villager

The villagers took every measure they can to build a water tank for their area, using their own hard earned money. However, all their efforts have been in vain…

Our only hope is to resolve the issue of these locals who pay to obtain water to engage in their daily needs. To help them, through our own Gammadda 100 day initiative…

“We have to pay for the water they bring to our door steps. But what we earn is not enough to purchase water.”

Join us to make a difference in ones life. To make their future bright. To bring hope for their future generations….
