Gammadda 100-day initiative gives much-needed relief to the people of Egodagama

- newsfirst.lk

A tragic situation faced by the people of Egodagama in Bandarawela will change from today with the successful completion of yet another project under the Gammadda 100-Day Initiative.

A small waterway was the only source of water for the people of Egodaga, after being affected by the adversities of the Uma Oya Multi Purpose Project. Around 800 families in the area meet with each other at this location on a daily basis. All these families had one thing in common – and that was the hardships they had to endure in their search for clean water.

Villagers in appreciation stated that there was no steps to reach the waterway and the elders find it hard to get water. But this area, which was a swamp, is now clean enough to keep food and eat – and when Sirasa commences a task they will finish it – and they will finish it very fast.

Even though Egodagama is a village that is facing a scarcity of water and even though most of their water sources have been dry for the past seven years, they will now at least have a small relief in their duel to obtain drinking water.
