BBS Vavuniya agitation by people in Colombo

- lankatruth.com

It is reported that Bhikkus in temples in Vavuniya, the devotees and residents in the area have decided not to support the communalist protest movement being carried out by Bodhu Bala Sena against the communalist statement made by the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council C.V. Vigneswaran.

As such, they have refused to support the BBS agitation to be held today (30th).

Despite there are about 4000 to 6000 resettled people in Vavuniya and adjacent areas only about 250 people have joined the agitation organized by BBS. Only a few Bhikkus from two temples put up recently have joined the agitation.

More than 200 people and a few Bhikkus have travelled from Colombo to participate in the agitation say reports.

The views of Bhikkus in temples that have existed for generations in the North and residents who have lived there for generations feel that Vigneswaran’s communalist statement should be defeated not by another communalism but with moves that would highlight national unity.
