Court grants bail to seven including former defence secretary
Bail was granted to seven respondents, including the former defence secretary,Gotabaya Rajapaksa in connection to the Avant Garde deal.
Bail was granted when the case was taken up before the Colombo Chief Magistrate, Gihan Pilapitiya.
Each respondent was ordered to place a surety bail of Rs.10 million while cash bail was set at Rs 200,000 each. The respondents were prohibited from engaging in any foreign tours.
The Commission to investigate allegations of bribery or corruption filed against the seven respondents in connection to the Rs.11.4 mn loss incurred by the government through the Avant Garde deal
Three former navy commanders also appeared in court today as respondents.
