Japan trusts Sri Lanka whatever allegations are made by Western countries
Japan has emphasized that although Western countries have made allegations on human rights against Sri Lanka, Japan has witnessed the committed efforts of the Government of Sri Lanka towards reconciliation and development in the country along with the establishment of the LLRC
This emphasis was made by Japan’s Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba during a meeting with Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in Tokyo. The Japanese Minister said that he was confident that within these efforts Sri Lanka would bring about a concrete outcome. While thanking the Government of Sri Lanka for the assistance extended to Japan during the earthquake, Mr. Gemba said that Japan was looking forward to further deepening the long standing relationship between the two countries. He informed that Japan will continue its efforts to extend financial assistance to Sri Lanka through the annual Yen loan and the grants extended for infrastructure development. During the meeting Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa Sri Lanka’s appreciation for the continued assistance extended by Japan. He invited the Foreign Minister to visit Sri Lanka and witness the peace and development taking place in the island.
