Hiran Yattowita, a famous name among the models of Sri Lanka, and now a famous name among the Sri Lanka cinema. His journey into modelling began with Paul James, Jacky Mei, and The Model Network, and then he joined with Brian Kerkoven to work big shows and is making a name for himself.
Currently, he’s happily married to MP Hirunika Premachandra and is working on his own business. ‘I’m having a peaceful, happy married life. We have each other for everything and at home’ he says enjoying the new journey he taken.
Hiran has worked with some of the big names in Sri Lanka as well as internationally working for Manish Malhotra and Rocky S. One of his most memorable moments is walking the ramp at IIFA Fashion 2010 with Bollywood celebrities such as Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Oberoi, Dino Morea, Bipasha Basu etc. He describes it as an incredible experience. In 2012, Hiran was chosen as the Best Male Model, and was sent to Spain to compete in a global scale where he put Sri Lanka on the map by placing in the top 5. He also won the Most Photogenic and Best Costume titles.
Speaking to Hiran about his modelling experience, and what life as a model is, he describes it as ‘Being a model is happiness. This is what I like to do in my life. This is my passion. Training to be a perfect model is really hard. To compete with international models, the competition is really high. We always have to maintain our figures. Low carbs and high proteins. So all the time, we have to concentrate on our food. There are so many other factors involved as well though’. It goes to show the amount of dedication these models put into keeping fit and maintaining their money maker.
He has taken a small step back from the modelling days since he got married, and have only done two shows since then; Emerald and Hameedia. ‘Now I pick my shows carefully because I’m a married man. I didn’t completely stop. I did two movies recently, and became an actor. Still my passion is walking on the ramp. Maybe in the future, I hope, I will be back on the modelling field. I would love to become a supermodel in Sri Lanka with a good physique, like Sri Lanka has never seen before. That is my dream.’ He concludes with a promise of a returning model that once shook the standards of Sri Lankan male models.
